Extra Credit Random Post
For this random post I will be talking more about politics once again. Speaking about politics I wanted to bring about the controversial issue about whether or not Roy Moore should continue to run for senate based off recent allegations against him. Allegations were brought onto Moore 4 weeks before the elections, accusing him of sexually abusing a 14 year old girl four decades ago when he was 32 years old. There have been many different sources that have claimed this, however Moore has denied these accusations. In my own opinion, the claims made about Moore are convincing that he is guilty especially since so many sources have been claiming this. I also had the chance to listen to Moore's interview with Sean Hannity and I do not believe Moore was able defend himself well against these claims since he basically admitted to dating 17 year old girls when he was 32. On the other hand, I am somewhat baffled because this evidence has been brought out right before his election which makes these circumstances seem kind of strange. Since these are just allegations and not yet proved, I do not believe Moore should have to step down from the elections, but if he was to win and evidence comes out later against him, he should resign or be expelled immediately.
I have almost no knowledge of politics, but even I know that there's a strong political bias affecting this scandal. Harvey Weinsten, Kevin Spacey, and other Hollywood actors get exposed, and their careers and lives are affected immediately. Meanwhile, Trump and Moore get exposed, and the allegations are suddenly not considered credible enough. In fact, Breitbart supposedly sent two reporters to Alabama in attempts to discredit the Washington Post's report on this scandal.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the other comment, a lot of people in power can and have been able to push these allegations away from them- because they know it would ruin their career if something like a rape accusation were to surface and actually lead to an investigation.
